The Queen Book Tag!

The Bookish Underdog has been kind enough to tag me for this book tag. I haven’t done one in a while and I look forward to participating! Thank you so much!

1. Bohemian Rhapsody – A work that you feel successfully tells the story from multiple points of view?

I can’t think of any at the top of my head. I will say though that when it comes to going from character to character in terms of describing what’s happening with them, Harlan Coben’s Stay Close is great!

2. We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions – A work/series/author you follow and support the way a sports fan supports their fave team?

I’m going to choose Harlan Coben. He’s a great writer!

3. Don’t Stop Me Now – A work you can’t put down?

Cradle and All by James Patterson. An amazing book!

4. Killer Queen – A dominant or badass female character?

Anne Fitzgerald from Cradle and All. I really liked her character. She was strong, brave, and cared deeply for the ones she was supposed to protect.

5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love – A work that includes a ridiculous/forced relationship?

Miles Teagarden and the young Alison at the end of If You Can See Me Now by Peter Straub. I’m not sure if they’re together-together at the end, but if so, that’s creepy and just wrong!

6. Under Pressure – A work you were pressured to read (by a teacher/peer/Booktube)?

Oh gosh, tons! I’m going to go with Catcher in the Rye. I didn’t really understand the big deal and didn’t like it AT ALL.

7. I Want to Break Free – A pioneering feminist work?

I don’t know if I have an answer for this one.

8. Radio Ga Ga – A dystopian work that makes you uneasy, because you feel its predictions are/will be correct?

I don’t really read a lot of dystopian books. Sorry!

9. I Want It All – An author/collection you want to own in their entirety?

Well to be honest, I don’t really want any author’s entire collection of books. However, if I had to pick one, it would without a doubt be Harlan Coben. He’s my favorite author and he’s written so many wonderful things!

10. Innuendo – The most suggestive line in literature (like an innuendo)?

Another one I’m skipping.

11. I’m Going Slightly Mad – A work you enjoy for its eccentricity?

Maybe If You Could See Me Now by Peter Straub. It’s kind of eccentric in some ways but it’s an excellent book!

12. The Show Must Go On – A work you enjoyed that was posthumously released?

N/A

13. Playlist – What are your favourite Queen songs?

Another One Bites the Dust, Don’t Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You

Sadly, I had to look these up to know they were by Queen. Still though, I like them!

The Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag

Hey guys!  I just got nominated for The Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag by The Bookish Underdog! Thank you so much! As with most tags, there are rules. However, I will be changing them slightly due to the facts that many of the books I read, I haven’t read in a while and I don’t remember all of the characters very well. Therefore instead of following the exact rules, I picked random books (and TV Shows/Movies), put them in random order in my head, and picked two random characters from each book and movie for the answers to the tag.

The actual rules are as follows:

  • Choose 5 books from your shelves.
  • Randomly set your books in order.
  • Flip to a random page. Record the first 2 names you see.
  • Put the names in the categories listed below, in the order that you saw them.

As you see, my version isn’t that far off from the original. Sorry for the inconvenience!

My Books (and tv shows/movies):

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben

The Making of the BTTF Trilogy by Caseen Gaines

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Lois and Clark : The Adventures of Superman

1. The first person to die in the apocalypse?

Robert Langdon from The Da Vinci Code.

I guess this makes sense! He’s smart and knows a lot about symbols, but I’m not sure how much he really knows about survival.

2.) The person you tackle to escape the zombies?

Sophie from The Da Vinci Code.

Wow, this would be a really stupid thing to do! Not only is Sophie nice, but she’s smart too and would probably be helpful in survival. Oh well, I guess I’m tackling her anyway!

3. The first person to be turned into a zombie?

Maya Stern from Fool Me Once

Well that’s unexpected and kind of unfortunate! Maya is really smart and well trained. You would think if anyone would survive, it would be her!

4. The person that tackles you to escape the zombies?

Shane from Fool Me Once

Wow! Really did not see that coming! Shane is such a stand up guy! Maybe it was an accident…?

5. The team’s idiot?

George from The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy

This kinda makes sense to me! George reads a lot of sci-fi but he’s not great with things in the real world. He seems like the type who would think he’d know what to do but then when it really happened, he’d be lost.

6. The brains of the team?

Marty from The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy.

While Mr. Strickland might think Marty’s a slacker, Doc would probably teach Marty how to get through an attack. Therefore, Marty might have a good chance of survival and helping others!

7. The team’s medic?

Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit!

Oh boy, we’re gonna die!

8. The weapons expert?

Jessica from Who Framed Roger Rabbit!

I don’t know, it could work!

9. The team’s brawler?

Lois from Lois and Clark : The Adventures of Superman

I don’t know. Lois is pretty tough so she might get mad and start a fight!

10. The team’s leader?

Clark from Lois and Clark : The Adventures of Superman

Could this make any more sense??

The TBR Tag

I would like to thank The Bookish Underdog for nominating me for The TBR Tag! I’ve been stressed today and hopefully this will be something to get my mind off things!

Questions

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

To be honest, I don’t really. I just kind of decide what I’m gonna read next. I don’t plan that far in advance when it comes to what I’m gonna read.

2. Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

Print. I don’t really believe in reading e-books!

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I honestly just decide what I want to read next. Sometimes it’s a new book I just got or one I’m interested in reading again.

4. A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?

Hmm…I have been thinking for a while that I want to read Dead Lines again since I always say it’s my favorite book. I tried reading it again once and I just couldn’t get into it.

5. A book you recently added to your TBR?

I just recently decided that I wanted to re-read Wicked.

6. A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

Honestly? None.

7. A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

I dunno.

8. An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?

I really don’t know. Is it horrible to say that one day I hope to read my own book that people can buy on shelves at their bookstores?

9. A book on your TBR that everybody has read but you?

None really. Oddly enough, it seems that a lot of people have different interests when it comes to what types of books they like to read. A lot of people seem to read young adult books, which I’m not really interested in.

10. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

Well, I recently had a blogger friend say that he was reading a book that sounded interested. I can’t remember the title at the moment though! Sorry!

11. A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

Again, I don’t really have a list. I do really want to re-read Wicked again though and Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. I also want to read The Gemini Contenders by Robert Ludlum. I started reading it once but didn’t get very far. I’d like to read it eventually!

12. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

Don’t have one

Sorry if my answers were kind of lame! I don’t really have a TBR list. I just kind of decide what I want to read as I go along. I tag everyone who wants to participate!

The Snack Food Book Tag!

Once again, the wonderful The Bookish Underdog has tagged me! Thank you so much! This time, I’ve been tagged for The Snack Food Book Tag created by Lucia.

1. Chocolate-Covered Pretzels: A book couple you never thought would work/get together?

I’m gonna go with Miles and Alison (the second Alison) from If You Could See Me Now.

2. Prunegales (see what I did there? the name is trademarked so I couldn’t use it): An addictive book you can’t get enough of?

So I’ve only read it once, but The Unwanted by John Saul was really good. I know I’ve mentioned this book before, but hey, what are you gonna do? A good book is a good book!

3. Trail mix: A book with a variety of characters?

I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but I have to go with If You Could See Me Now again. There were tons of people in that book!

4. Fruit bowls: An unpredictable character?

Eric Cavanaugh from The Unwanted. Seriously.

5. Nut Bar: Your go-to book?

I’m just going to say any James Patterson or Harlan Coben book.

6. Popcorn: A character you can’t help but like?

I know this is a book tag, but I’m going to go with a movie villain and a mean character from a movie. I love Linoge as a bad guy from Storm of the Century (in all fairness, this was also turned into a screenplay) and Richard Dees from The Night Flier (also a movie from a Stephen King story). While one’s…well…evil and one’s and a*s hole, they’re played really well!

The YA Frenzy Book Tag!

I was just tagged by The Bookish Underdog for The YA Frenzy Book Tag! Thank you so much!

Rules are as follows-

  • Respond to mine and icebreaker694’s post in comments (so we know if you can participate).
  • Read through Q&A below.
  • Answer the questions in your own post 😄.
  • Choose at least 3 to 5 other bloggers to participate!

1. What book got you started on the path of YA?

While I’m not really a fan of young adult novels, I did read the Harry Potter series (though I feel it’s a bit overrated). However, I took Young Adult Literature in college and I did enjoy a few of the books. I found that I really enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird. Also, in another college class, I read One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest which I loved. So, I would say that those two got me somewhat interested.

List 3 awesome book related gifs (they can be from the movies or they can just have someone reading in them) and add your own captions.

When newspapers tell you what the books are about! Why do they do that?!

When you haven’t read in a while, and then you read a really good book!

When a book is so good, you get lost in it!

3. What was the latest series you finished?

I don’t really read series and like I said, I’m not a huge YA book fan. The last book I read though was If You Could See Me Now and I definitely recommend it!

4. What is one thing that you hate in YA? What is one thing you love?

I hate how childish some of the books sound. I’m sorry, but I’m an adult and I want to read books written for adults. I love how you get a new perspective on things. Since the books are written for young adults, you kind of get to see how the author wants the book perceived. Plus, you feel a little younger again.

5. Take this Buzzfeed quiz (‘Are You Able to Identify the Real YA Cover from the Fake?’) and post your results.

Are You Able To Identify The Real YA Cover From The Fake?

You got 7 out of 10 right!
You did better than 31% of those who took this quiz!
  1. Silver Bookworm

You have a good eye for most of these YA covers, but you stumbled on a few. But that’s OK — it’s just another excuse to spend more time in the aisles of Barnes and Noble.
