Mystery Blogger Award

My good friend Carla over at The Melodramatic Confessions of Carla Louise nominated anyone who wanted to participate for this wonderful blog award. She told me to feel free to participate, so I decided to. If you haven’t already, please check out Carla’s blog – she’s kind, passionate, and an amazing writer! 2.) I’m the type of person that when I see a dog, I immediately think of what I would name it!

3.) My favorite holiday is Christmas

The Questions (these are for my nominees as well. They’re really good!)

Have you had a crush on your teacher as a teenager?

Yes, definitely. Hey, I had a lot of cute teachers!

If you had the power to change one thing in your past, what would that be?

I would somehow get a hold on my anxiety before it took over so much control of my life.

Which country is your next dream vacation, and what made you want to go there?

Italy! For one thing my great grandma was from Sicily, plus I love the artwork in Italy. I took an Art History class in college and fell in love with some of the paintings.

Do you think it is okay to keep secrets even between best friends?

Yes, as long as they’re not harmful.

If you could be transformed into something else, what would be your preference, and why?

I immediately think of a dog, but sometimes they’re treated like crap. Plus, they can’t talk and everything. I don’t know…hard question!

I Nominate…

Rec’d and Wreck’d – TV Shows: Part 2

Shealea from That Bookshelf Bitch created this awesome feature. I’ve participated a couple of times already and have decided to do it again!

https://thatbookshelfbitch.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/recd-and-wreckd-header.png?w=668&h=269

The Rules:

1] Download the Rec’d & Wreck’d header and include it in your post.
[2] Specify what you’re going to Rec’d & Wreck’d. If you were tagged to do a Rec’d & Wreck’d post, let us know and mention the person who tagged you.
[3] List three things you would recommend (rec’d). Rave until your heart’s content.
[4] List three things you would like to wreck (wreck’d). Rant until your heart’s content.
[5] State your challenge for the next Rec’d & Wreck’d post. Here’s an example:
Rec’d & Wreck’d challenge:
– Type: Books
– Genre: YA Contemporary
– Prompt: I’m looking for a book that can make me ugly cry

[6] You can open the challenge to all your blog readers, but you should nominate at least seven (7) people to do your challenge.
[7] Do not forget to link back to the original post on That Bookshelf Bitch. That way, more people can learn about the feature and join in on the fun!

To find out more about Rec’d & Wreck’d, click here!

I will be rec’ding and wreck’ding TV shows!

REC’D:

1.) Legends of Tomorrow: I was late to the party, but I think I’m caught up now. This is a great show and the White Canary kicks ass! The only thing is that if you’ve never seen The Flash or Arrow, you might be a little confused.

2.) Man with a Plan: While I doubt it will last very long because networks never seem to give Matt Leblanc shows the chances they deserve (other than Friends, of course!), I thought Man with a Plan was really good. Matt Leblanc is hilarious and I liked Liza Snyder too. The show is just really funny so far!

3.) Frequency: Peyton List and Riley Smith are great in Frequency. I also love the idea of father and daughter being able to communicate through the radio, whilst years apart from each other. In addition to the concept being cool, I like the way they show the cause and effect of changing time. The only issue I have with the show is that it can be a bit repetitive at times.

WRECK’D

Sadly I feel like a lot of my favorite shows have gone down hill. Here’s a few:

1.) The Flash: I was already getting irritated with Barry changing things so many freakin’ times in the past, but once I found out there was yet another ‘speedster’, I couldn’t take it any longer! I think the writers realized that they made a huge mistake, but I don’t think they were able to fix it. It’s too bad too, this show could have been amazing! I’ve officially given up on it.

2.) Supergirl: I could go on and on complaining about this show. Supergirl was never strong or believable as a superhero to begin with, but now she has like twenty different people helping her! I like her character as an every day human being, but as a superhero, she’s very disappointing. I feel like part of the show’s purpose is to show that women are just as strong as men, but it fails miserably in trying to demonstrate this. Again, this is a show that I’ve stopped watching.

3.) Arrow: While I haven’t stopped watching Arrow quite yet, I’m getting dangerously close. After Oliver’s amazing team all went their separate ways (the characters are still in the show, but have tiny parts), I’m just not feeling it. Oliver has assembled a new team but none of the members really stick out and the one who does sticks out in a bad way – she’s utterly annoying. The only good thing is that Stephen Amell remains amazing and so does Emily Bett Rickards. David Ramsey and Paul Blackthorne are also still great, but their parts are so small that you can hardly say they’re in the show at all. I’m hoping that changes soon, but I don’t have much hope for the show.

The Black Cat Sea Award!

I was just nominated for The Black Cat Sea Award by Kristian at Life Lessons Around the Dinner Table! Thank you so much, Kristian! I’ve never been given this award before and I’m super excited! Then again, I always get excited when I receive awards!

image16

About the Award:

“This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes” – Ella

The Rules

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate eight other bloggers.
  2. The nominee answers three questions posed by the nominator.
  3. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions.
  4. If any of the questions asked are offensive or the nominee simply does not want to answer, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

The Questions For Me to Answer:

  1. What are your all time 5 favorite quotes?
    1. “If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it” –Toni Morrison
    2. “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way” –Jessica Rabbit, Who Framed Roger Rabbit
  2. If you had a different name, would you be a different person?
    • That’s an interesting question. In a way, I think that yes, I would be. I kind of believe in the whole ‘change one thing and everything changes’ theory. Then again, it is just a name. It’s not like I’d have different parents or something.
  3. What is your favorite music/song?
    • Lyrically, my favorite song is New Wild West by Jewel. My favorite Beatles song is Come Together.

My Nominees:

In Silence We Suffer

The Questions For My Nominees:

1.) Who is your number one inspiration of all time?

2.) How has blogging changed you as a person?

3.) If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?

September Character Photo Challenge – September 15th

Okay, due to thinking that today was a fictional past that I wish was real (it’s actually future today and past tomorrow!), I’m going to have to switch the days around so I have more time to think about it. However, for a fictional past that I wish was real, I’m going with the Old West from Back to the Future III. Marty and Doc may have encountered some issues with Buford ‘Mad Dog’ Tannen, but other than that, it seemed pretty fun!

“Which Do You Prefer?” Book Tag!

preferbooktag

So I know that there are similar book tags out there, but I thought I’d create one myself! So without further ado, “Which do you prefer…?”

1.) Writing or reading books?

This is kind of hard. Then again, I love to do both to be honest. I think I have to say that I like to write stories more than read them, but only because I want to be a writer and because, I do enjoy it. However, reading books is much easier and I do enjoy that as well – which is why I wanted to become a writer in the first place!

2.) Reading hardbacks or paperbacks?

Paperbacks all the way! For some reason, hardcovers just look so much more daunting. I own both though and having hardcovers seems more important and substantial. Maybe that doesn’t make sense, but it’s true.

3.) Reading E-books or books you can actually hold?

Definitely tangible books. Reading on the computer or tablet frustrates the crap out of me!

4.) Reading books with the protagonist of a woman or man?

Actually I prefer reading books where the protagonist is a man. No idea why!

5.) Reading books written by men or women?

Men though I know how wrong it is to say that! Especially since I want to be a professional author one day and I’m a woman!

6.) Reading books or listening?

Reading. I’ve never listened to an audio book and have absolutely no desire to!

7.) Reading out loud or in your head?

In my head

8.) Getting books from the library/borrowing them or buying them?

I like owning books more, but it’s safer to get them from the library first and see if you like them. But I guess I like owning them more! Who doesn’t?!

9.) Reading thrillers or romance?

Thrillers all the way!

10.) Writing in books or not?

Not

11.) Reading long books or short?

I like reading books that are about 400 pages long. Not sure if that’s long, short, or in the middle!

I nominate everyone, but especially…

The Rules:

1.Write a post to show your award
2.Give a brief story of how your blog started
3.Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
4.Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
5.Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

It All Began When…

My dad and therapist recommended me to write about my anxiety. They told me it would be a great way to help both myself and others.

My Advice To You…

1.) Write about what you want – Don’t worry about getting tons of attention. Write about what means a lot to you and hopefully you’ll get readers who appreciate your work. I know I did!

2.) Connect with others but be careful! – This is super important. I think it’s great and important to make friends and connections, but at the same time, you need to make sure you’re being safe. Don’t give out too much personal information and make sure that you’re watching what you tell others.

Rec’d and Wreck’d – Movies!

1.) While You Were Sleeping – I know this is an older movie, but I just recently saw it! I thought it was really good and Sandra Bullock was great in it! It was funny, sweet, and entertaining. I highly recommend it! It’s a great movie about falling in love with someone that you might least expect and not judging a book by its cover.

Image result for The Family Man
Google Images

2.) The Family Man – This is another older movie but one I just saw. While parts of it were kind of predictable, I really liked it. I’m also kind of a fan of Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni, who were both in it. It’s a movie that reminds us that we should never give up on our dreams and the idea of love.

Image result for Hope Floats
Google Images

3.) Hope Floats – While a little on the sappy and sad side, Hope Floats was a really good movie! I loved Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. in it. It was a great movie about mothers and daughters and finding love.

WRECK’D

Google Images

1.) American Beauty – I didn’t even watch this whole movie. Apparently it won all kinds of awards but it was both disturbing and weird. I just really didn’t like it. I guess people probably found it creative, but I found it just plain strange!

Image result for Critical Condition
Google Images

2.)  Critical Condition – While I find Richard Pryor funny, I didn’t finish this movie either. It was good for a while but then I realized it was going absolutely nowhere! It went from funny to just plain stupid pretty fast!

Image result for The Paperboy
Google Images

3.) The Paperboy  – You guessed it, another movie I didn’t even finish. It was awful and just overall strange. Definitely wouldn’t bother with that one again!

*I know that Shealea said that we should nominate at least seven bloggers to participate, but I nominate everyone who wants to join in the fun! Feel free to let me know if you do, I’d love to see your answers!
