“Is There Anyone Out There?”

Do you ever wonder if anyone else in the world feels like you do? Like a part of you knows that there are others who struggle, but still a part of you feels like you’re the only one who struggles in a very specific way?

While everyone struggles, everyone struggles with different issues. Also, everyone struggles in their own unique way. What do I mean by this? Let me give you an example.

I have severe anxiety. Now I know with 100% certainty that there are tons of others who struggle with severe anxiety. However, I also know that everyone struggles with anxiety in different ways and that everyone’s anxiety manifests in different ways.

Sometimes this is hard for me to deal with – the knowledge that I am probably the only one who struggles in the exact way that I do. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t want anyone to struggle in the same way that I do. However, at the same time, it would be comforting to know that I wasn’t the only one with these exact issues.

It can be difficult because I see how anxiety effects me, embarrasses me. I experience certain things that I don’t even mention on here – things that I hate and wonder if I’m the only one who experiences them.

The important thing to remember though is that everyone struggles. Even if it’s not with the exact same issues with the exact same effects, there are people who can relate; understand. There are people (and I thank every single one of you) who are here for me, who support me, and who have words of wisdom that they are more than happy to pass along. None of us are alone and all of us have the power to help each other and to be helped.

Still, I know what it’s like. I know what it’s like to wonder if anyone feels the exact same way as you and goes through the exact same things as you do. I know what it’s like to wonder if you’re ever going to get through your struggles, if you’re ever going to break free of what holds you back.

My point of this post is to remind you that even if people don’t go through the exact same things as you do, they go through very similar things and feel very similar to how you do. There are people out there who genuinely care about you and who will be there for you.

I want to thank everyone who supports me in my journey to get through my anxiety! I want to give an extra special shout out to Carla from The Melodramatic Confessions of Carla Louise, Matt from In Silence We Suffer, and Jen from The Anxiety Chronicles. You guys have helped me so much, especially this week!

Man am I reblogging a lot today! Please check out this great video and Jen’s great blog!

The Anxiety Chronicles

After doing my daily guided meditation, for my anxiety, I decided to look at other videos by  BEXLIFE. I came across this short video, where she explains how to control an anxiety or panic attack in 4 minutes, using 2-3 techniques. Please check out the video or share it with your loved ones. It may be very helpful and beneficial. Also, if you have time, check out her other meditation videos. She has suffered with anxiety for over 20 years, and through meditation, has found ways in controlling it and living a more peaceful and aware life.

What is Happiness?

Jen talks about the importance of letting go of negativity and focusing on the positive! Please visit her wonderful blog!

The Anxiety Chronicles

The reason it can be difficult to feel completely happy throughout our days, is because it’s difficult to accept ourselves, flaws and all. I know for me, I’m very critical of myself and when my anxiety takes over, I think about 101 reasons why a person may not like me or 101 things I have done wrong. This is not the way we should be thinking. I for one know I’m too hard on myself. It’s difficult to stop worrying and thinking, when anxiety takes hold of us. However, we have to try our best to push aside the negative thoughts and accept our quirks! Regretting things of the past, will not help us to move forward in peace. Worrying about the present or the future, will not allow us to enjoy the little things in life. Judging ourselves and others, will only fill us with distain and ill feelings…

Motivation for today's REALITY

I just did an interview with a wonderful blogger who goes by B.G. and is the author of the blog:

We did the interview by email so it’s kind of a Q and A type of interview.  There is so much in store for all the readers/followers/and bloggers out there reading this.  I am thrilled that B.G. agreed to do this interview with me because I have wanted to for a long time.  Let’s start with a piece B.G. wrote about the blog.

“Hi.  My name is  B.G. and I created by blog, Getting Through Anxiety, a little over two years ago.  I’ve struggled with anxiety for several years now and after my dad and therapist recommended that I write about my anxiety, I decided to do so.  Through struggling with anxiety, I have learned how difficult it can be to deal with a mental health issue.

I Wish…

Yesterday, I reblogged the post that Jen from The Anxiety Chronicles posted. The post was about an article featured on The Mighty about what people with mental health issues want for the holidays and in general. Now, while I appreciate the fact that I get through my anxiety and that even though I struggle, I’m still alive and well, I’d still like to get better at managing my anxiety. Also, while I’m appreciative of all the tangible gifts I’ve received today and in general, I will admit that there’s something I really want that money cannot buy. So, what do I want…?

I want to enjoy life and be with my family and friends without having to struggle with anxiety. I want to go back to just living and not always worrying about so much.

I almost feel bad saying this. The truth is that I am so grateful for all that I have in life. I have a great family, good friends, and people who really care about me. I have all of you who read, “like”, comment on, and follow my blog, and I’ve had great experiences! I’ve been given the opportunity to attend great schools and my family has always been here for me. A part of me hates to complain, but let’s face it. It would be nice if we didn’t have to struggle. It would be nice if those of us who struggle with mental health issues could just get through things a little easier. So, be grateful for what you have, but don’t forget to strive to improve your life. I wish you all the best and hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I know that I had a pretty good one even though I struggled a little.

Thanks again for all of you who wished me a Merry Christmas and for all of your kindness and support!
