Gilmore Girls : A Year In The Life – Review

Okay guys, I didn’t plan on it but I finished Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in two days! While it’s still fresh in my mind, I’ve decided to write a review. Warning: Spoilers Ahead…

What I Didn’t Like:

The scene with the musical: The town of  Stars Hollow is throwing a musical – fine. The problem? The scene lasted way too long in my opinion. While I loved Lorelai’s reaction to the whole thing (the looks from side to side saying, ‘Are you serious?’), I thought the whole thing in general was a little obnoxious. Plus, the part when Lorelai walks out and the actress gets all over her – it just didn’t seem to fit with the show.

How some of the scenes seemed forced: I know how they were trying to include everyone, but some of the scenes seemed a little too forced. For example, I loved that Suki was in the show, but waiting until the last minute seemed a little too much. I can’t totally explain it, but some of the show seemed a little pushed.

Rory and Logan’s ongoing affair: I know that Rory’s character isn’t meant to be perfect and that’s fine. However, when we last left Rory before the continuation of the show, she and Logan seemed to split after she said no to his proposal. However, when we returned, they’re carrying on a secret affair?! Can you say, annoying? Not to mention, I think Logan (especially by the end of the show), is an ass. Plain and simple.

Lorelai and Luke’s ‘baby issue’ – I didn’t hate this, but it didn’t totally seemed solved by the end of the show. Sometimes it seemed like Lorelai wanted a baby and at others, it didn’t. I was a little confused.

What I Did Like:

Carol King playing ‘I Hear The Earth Move’ – This was great and it cracked me up! I love the song and love how Taylor didn’t find it catchy! Just a really funny scene!

The Dancing Scene with Logan and Friends – I loved this whole scene including the great music! It was amazing!

Lorelai and her Mother: I liked how they kept the relationship between Lorelai and Emily tense, but at the same time, loving at times. Emily still isn’t a saint after Richard dies, but she still has moments when you can tell that she loves her daughter.

How the Characters Were Put to Good Use – I liked how Jess was put in the show (though I could practically hear the audience clapping as he walked in – it’s just how he randomly showed up). He came in to help out Luke with his mom and he visited Rory and the paper. I also like how they had Lane in the show. I also enjoyed seeing Dean! Seeing Michelle again was great as well. I liked seeing Suki but felt that her not showing up until the end was awkward.

Lorelai and Rory’s Relationship – While maybe not as strong as before, you can tell that the mother and daughter still have an incredible bond. I loved that the creators of the show kept that.

Rory writing a book about her relationship with her mother – I thought this concept was fantastic. So much so, that Lorelai not liking the idea at first pissed me off!

Spoiler Alert: Major spoilers ahead…….

Lorelai and Luke Getting Married – I’m so happy this finally happened! I think they did a great job with it.

‘The last four words’ – I guess everyone is referring the last words as ‘the last four words’, so I’ll do the same. At first I was like, “That’s all we get?”, but after a while, I kind of liked how it ended. It leaves us wanting more, but at the same time, we feel satisfied with the ending (I did anyway). The baby is most definitely Logan’s (it didn’t seem like Rory had seen Paul very recently) and she’ll most likely raise it by herself. Perhaps she’ll end up with Jess in the end since he obviously still has feelings for her. Though, personally, I don’t think she likes him like that anymore. Who knows.

Overall Rating: 8/10

3 Fictional Characters Challenge

So I first saw this challenge on the blog, Cluttered Stories, and decided that I would participate! While the characters I’m picking don’t fully describe me, they do at times!

1.) Joey Potter (Dawson’s Creek) – Joey is kind, sensitive, and smart! She’s also extremely down to earth and sarcastic at times!

2.) Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) – I kind of like to think that I’m like Lorelai and Rory combined. I think I have a lot of the same traits that they both do (smart, sarcastic at times, and kind). They also like to joke around a lot which I love! I also love movies like they do!

3.) Rachel Green (Friends) – While I’m not totally like Rachel, I think I relate to her in a few ways. For one, I love how excited she gets over stuff, even if it’s not things that are a big deal. Also, she’s boy crazy which I can kind of relate to and she gets so excited over cute guys! She’s also sarcastic at times and I’m a firm believer in not cheating on who you’re with, which she clearly also agrees with!

Gilmore Girls : The Guys

Hey guys! After re-watching Gilmore Girls, I wanted to make a post about the guys that Rory (Alexis Bledel) dated and what I thought of each one. I thought I would compare and contrast them and then share with you my favorite. I know that the show has a lot of fans, including myself! So without further ado…

Google Images …And here I thought he was Sam! How stupid of me! 😉

Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) : I have to say that I liked Dean a lot in the beginning. He was really nice and yet at the same time, had that whole “cool” thing going for him. He was so respectful of Rory and I really loved that about him. The only problem with him was that towards the end, he got really clingy and jealous. In all fairness though, Rory did start liking another guy and the signs of her falling for someone else were definitely there. One thing that I loved about Dean though was that he was always there to stand up for Rory, even after they were broken up.

Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) : I liked Jess and I didn’t. I liked the fact that he was a little more outgoing and adventurous and I liked the fact that he gave Rory more space than Dean. Also, when Jess wasn’t trying to seem “too cool for school” he had a soft and romantic side to him that I really loved. The problem was that in the end, he was a bit selfish and didn’t share his feelings with Rory. I also hated the fact that he didn’t seem to want to fully accept that she wasn’t ready to sleep with him. I can see why Rory wanted to be with Jess since he was a little more laid back and adventurous, but at the same time, he was kind of a jerk. In the end, if I had to pick between dating Dean or Jess, I think I’d have to go with Dean! Admittedly, though, they both had some great qualities!

Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry): The first time I watched the full series, I kind of thought Logan was an ass. However, the second time around, I liked him better. Don’t get me wrong, there are still times when he’s a total jerk and seems to think he’s better than everyone, but there are also times when he’s really sweet. Additionally, you can tell that he loves Rory and would do anything for her – he was there for her through thick and thin. I wouldn’t have minded if they ended up together in the end, but as many know, they didn’t. I can’t totally blame Rory for saying no to him, she had good reasons. I do think it was a little unfair for Logan to give her the ultimatum of all or nothing.

I think overall, I liked Logan the best. I really loved Dean’s character at first (and no, not because he’s in Supernatural!), but because he became really jealous and clingy he got annoying. Every time Rory was even around another guy he got frustrated or whiny and that got really annoying. Sure he had a reason to get that way a little around Jess because Rory liked him, but still. I liked him way more in the beginning. While Logan was kind of a jerk at times, he loved Rory. Plus, I think the way he was brought up kind of led him to be an ass at times. He definitely began to mature though which was good! So, out of all the guys Rory really dated, I’d choose Logan. However, if Dean would have stayed nice and caring and not become overly jealous, I definitely would have gone with him!

Who’s looking forward to Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life? I am!

P.S. I hope Lorelai and Luke are together! I think they will be!
