Getting Chilly? Why Not Read?

B.W. Ginsburg

In many areas, the weather is starting to get on the chilly side. As many readers know, one of the best things to do as the cold months approach is to curl on the couch or in bed under the blankets with a nice hot beverage and a book. So why not give yourself the gift of both comfort and reading by purchasing my newly published book, Rest in Piece, available in the Amazon Kindle store? For the weather is frightful, but reading is so delightful!

If you’d like to purchase a copy of my book, click here! Thanks

If you have any questions about the book in general or how to purchase, please don’t hesitate to ask! Thank you to everyone who supports my writing! If you’d like to read a review written about Rest in Piece, click here.

Time To Rate Some Shows!

Hey guys! So it’s been pretty exciting watching the new shows for Fall. I’ve decided to rate the ones I’ve watched so far! For the record, I still have some more to watch!

The Good Place – 4.5/5 stars

The Good Place is hilarious! I love Kristen Bell and Ted Danson. I also love William Jackson Harper’s character! If you want to watch a show that’ll crack you up, watch The Good Place!

Kevin Can Wait 4/5 Stars

Kevin Can Wait is another really funny show. While I’m not in love with the character Chale and while the acting isn’t as good as in The Good Place, it’s still a great, funny show!

Timeless – 4.5/5 Stars

So I was really excited for this show and while at first I was a little worried that the acting wouldn’t be very good (I’d only seen one of the actors in something – Matt Latner in the newer version of 90210), I ended up LOVING the show and loving all the main characters!

MacGyver 1/5 Stars

No, no, no! I watched the first episode and was not impressed. AT ALL! I thought it might actually be good, but it wasn’t. Now maybe I was trying too hard to compare it to the original (which was great and can be found on Netflix!), but I was very disappointed. First of all, way too much of the show was narrated. Second of all, they labeled on the show like what everything was. I think we know what a paper clip looks like!

Crunching Leaves: The world is full of color. Choose a book that has reds, oranges, and yellows on the cover.

I read this when I was younger and really liked it. I didn’t read the second book, but I do have it.

Cozy Sweater: It’s finally cold enough to don warm, cozy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies.

Celebrating Peanuts: 60 Years. This is a great book for Peanuts fans! It’s adorable and sure to bring a smile to your face!

Fall Storm: The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favorite book or genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

Horror books. Creepy and eerie books like the one I’m reading right now…Nathaniel by John Saul (so good!)

Cool Crisp Air: Who’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

From a book? I really don’t know. From a movie, maybe Sydney from Alias. She was pretty cool! I know this isn’t “coolest” as in from a cold part of the world, but she was just plain cool. 🙂

Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

Hmm… I think they should turn The Unwanted by John Saul into a movie. It was written a long time ago so I’m not sure if it was “under hyped” but I don’t believe there was a movie. There should be!

Coats, Scarves, and Mittens: The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

Pumpkin Spice: What’s your favorite fall time comfort food/foods?

I don’t know. I guess stuffing! I also love Hot Chocolate though I know that’s not a food.

The Beauty of Being Calm in Nature

I just came back from the post office (where they lost a package of mine, not happy) and decided to walk around my backyard. Not only did I do so without feeling much anxiety, but I was able to stop and take pictures of the beautiful leaves and a cardinal that I saw sitting in a tree. For me to just be able to stand there and enjoy nature without becoming anxious, felt amazing. The leaves were so pretty in my backyard and I got to take three pictures of the cardinal. Even though the pictures of the small bird didn’t come out great, they did come out and the one of the leaves that I took came out beautifully!

Nature, especially in the Fall, is a breathtaking thing. Being able to enjoy such beauty while feeling calm is even better. If you’re struggling with getting outside, please know that if you take small steps and practice consistently, you will be able to enjoy yourself outside in the presence of nature! I know it may seem impossible sometimes, but it isn’t. We just have to stay strong and work hard.

Fun Time!

The Sweater Weather Tag

I just started following Phoenix Crimson’s blog and thought I would participate in this cool tag!

The Rules:

  1. “Answer the questions below.”
  2. “Tag the person who nominated you.”
  3. “Tag some of your favorite blogs, prompting them to complete the “sweater weather tag” for themselves.”

Favorite Candle Scent: I’m not really a candle person, but I’d have to say Vanilla.

Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate: Hot chocolate

What is the best fall memory you have? Hmm…this is hard. I guess maybe when I was younger and went Trick or Treating with my dad or when I went to my friend’s house for Halloween.

Best Fragrance for Fall: Does Vanilla count? Candy corn and Vanilla Caramel too.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Stuffing! I hate turkey by the way.

Most Worn Sweater: Hmm…I don’t know, I have many. I do wear my leather jacket a lot in the fall though.

Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Neither really but jumping in leaf piles!

Favorite Type of Pie: Apple. I don’t like pumpkin.

What is autumn weather like where you live? Breezy and a bit chilly.

Which makeup trend do you prefer, dark lips or winged liner? Neither. I don’t really wear or like makeup.

What song really gets you into the fall spirit? Uh…I have no idea.

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype? No! I don’t get it at all! I don’t really like pumpkin anything though, so that’s probably why!

Favorite Fall TV Show: At the moment, Limitless.

Skinny jeans or leggings? Neither, I like flares and only flares!

Combat boots or Uggs? Don’t know.

Halloween – Yay or Nay? Yay. However, I’m a huge believer that Halloween should be parents walking with their kids and not riding in cars. I’m sorry, it’s just how I feel. If it’s too dangerous, then you shouldn’t go at all. However, I think in general, it’s not that dangerous.

Fall mornings or evenings? Mornings and mid days.

What do you think about Black Friday? I’ve never really gone Black Friday shopping but I feel it’s way overrated and that people that trample over each other for deals are insane.

One Fall 2015 Trend You Love: I don’t know. Leather jackets. I just got a suede one! 🙂

I would like to nominate anyone that would like to answer these fun questions!

Friends of Fall – A Poem

The following poem, Fall Friends, is another poem written by my good friend Kim and I. Fall is actually one of my favorite seasons as I love the fall colors and weather (at least when it’s not freezing!) and so Kim and I decided to write about both Autumn and the animals that can be seen during the season. I want to thank Kim again for taking the time to collaborate on a poem with me, as she is a wonderful friend and writer! Please visit her blogs at Peace, Love and Patchouli, The Lavender Letters, and thereinventionintention for great poetry and insight. Thank you for reading!

Fall Friends

By: B.G. and Kim

Sitting on the side steps
Taking in the fresh air
I feel a sense of pleasantness
That sometimes seems quite rare

All of a sudden I see
A flash of brown coming my way
But you rush off in a panic
Before I can ask you to stay.

These sights of Autumn fill me
With peace and joy abound
As time moves on I see
The colors around me falling down.

The creatures move much closer
Gathering their sustenance to live
Yet I am truly blessed
As their presence a gift they give.

As the robins leave
The blue jays decide to stay
While cardinals make their plans to wait
For the summer sky to turn grey

As I hear them chirp
I offer breadcrumbs and seeds
Hoping I can give them the love
That every creature needs

The hounds run to the trees
With the chipmunks and squirrels on high
Giving chase on cool fall days
Wishing they could perhaps fly.

The sights and sounds of autumn
As frosty grass crunches beneath
The pumpkins empty of seed
Orange rind for deer I bequeath.

Though the weather is cool
Forming Goosebumps on my arm
All of the creatures assure me
That there’s no reason for alarm

They convince me to stay nearby
Asking to please join them as they play
Promising that visiting will provide me
A warm and happy day

Making A Plan

So where I live, the weather is beginning to get cooler. With cooler weather, many of us will probably find it a little more difficult to exercise and practice facing our fears outdoors. However, it is still important to get outside and practice, especially if our anxiety gets worse when we go outside.

So, what do we need to do? My therapist asked me this and honestly, I wasn’t sure. To say that I now know how I will handle this would be a lie. I admit, that as difficult as it is to sometimes get myself motivated enough to go outside and practice when it’s warmer out, it’s even harder to do when it isn’t as warm. The thing is though, that none of us can really afford to slack off and allow our anxiety to take over.

We need to make a plan. My plans so far involve practicing and exercising more inside than I usually do, trying to walk at least a little outside, and trying to go to more places like restaurants, etc.

Doing things in the fall and winter to work on getting through our anxiety may seem a bit more challenging, but it’s still something we need to work on. I wish you all the best and if anyone has any advice on how to practice and exercise outside during the cooler months, please let me know. Thanks!
