Warrior and Worrier

You’ve probably seen the slogan all over countless forms of merchandise – warrior not worrier. Here’s my question: When did it become a matter of either or?

Don’t get me wrong. The ultimate goal when it comes to struggling with stress and anxiety is to worry less. However, I don’t think that just because we may struggle with anxiety, means that we are not warriors. In fact, dealing with something so difficult and not giving up – continuing to try our hardest to overcome our obstacles – is what makes us true warriors; true fighters.

The idea that we can’t be both; can’t be someone who both worries and who fights to overcome those fears, is preposterous. The notion that if we have anxiety, that makes us weak? Ridiculous. We are strong individuals who have the ability to get through our anxiety.

So next time you see a mug or T-shirt that says, ‘Warrior, not worrier’, remember that it is possible to be both. Remember that it is trying your hardest to overcome your obstacles and not allowing them to take control that makes you a warrior, not necessarily being free of all struggles.

I will be rec’ding and wreck’ding TV shows!

REC’D:

1.) Legends of Tomorrow: I was late to the party, but I think I’m caught up now. This is a great show and the White Canary kicks ass! The only thing is that if you’ve never seen The Flash or Arrow, you might be a little confused.

2.) Man with a Plan: While I doubt it will last very long because networks never seem to give Matt Leblanc shows the chances they deserve (other than Friends, of course!), I thought Man with a Plan was really good. Matt Leblanc is hilarious and I liked Liza Snyder too. The show is just really funny so far!

3.) Frequency: Peyton List and Riley Smith are great in Frequency. I also love the idea of father and daughter being able to communicate through the radio, whilst years apart from each other. In addition to the concept being cool, I like the way they show the cause and effect of changing time. The only issue I have with the show is that it can be a bit repetitive at times.

WRECK’D

Sadly I feel like a lot of my favorite shows have gone down hill. Here’s a few:

1.) The Flash: I was already getting irritated with Barry changing things so many freakin’ times in the past, but once I found out there was yet another ‘speedster’, I couldn’t take it any longer! I think the writers realized that they made a huge mistake, but I don’t think they were able to fix it. It’s too bad too, this show could have been amazing! I’ve officially given up on it.

2.) Supergirl: I could go on and on complaining about this show. Supergirl was never strong or believable as a superhero to begin with, but now she has like twenty different people helping her! I like her character as an every day human being, but as a superhero, she’s very disappointing. I feel like part of the show’s purpose is to show that women are just as strong as men, but it fails miserably in trying to demonstrate this. Again, this is a show that I’ve stopped watching.

3.) Arrow: While I haven’t stopped watching Arrow quite yet, I’m getting dangerously close. After Oliver’s amazing team all went their separate ways (the characters are still in the show, but have tiny parts), I’m just not feeling it. Oliver has assembled a new team but none of the members really stick out and the one who does sticks out in a bad way – she’s utterly annoying. The only good thing is that Stephen Amell remains amazing and so does Emily Bett Rickards. David Ramsey and Paul Blackthorne are also still great, but their parts are so small that you can hardly say they’re in the show at all. I’m hoping that changes soon, but I don’t have much hope for the show.

1.) While You Were Sleeping – I know this is an older movie, but I just recently saw it! I thought it was really good and Sandra Bullock was great in it! It was funny, sweet, and entertaining. I highly recommend it! It’s a great movie about falling in love with someone that you might least expect and not judging a book by its cover.

2.) The Family Man – This is another older movie but one I just saw. While parts of it were kind of predictable, I really liked it. I’m also kind of a fan of Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni, who were both in it. It’s a movie that reminds us that we should never give up on our dreams and the idea of love.

3.) Hope Floats – While a little on the sappy and sad side, Hope Floats was a really good movie! I loved Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. in it. It was a great movie about mothers and daughters and finding love.

WRECK’D

1.) American Beauty – I didn’t even watch this whole movie. Apparently it won all kinds of awards but it was both disturbing and weird. I just really didn’t like it. I guess people probably found it creative, but I found it just plain strange!

Image result for Critical Condition
Google Images

2.)  Critical Condition – While I find Richard Pryor funny, I didn’t finish this movie either. It was good for a while but then I realized it was going absolutely nowhere! It went from funny to just plain stupid pretty fast!

3.) The Paperboy  – You guessed it, another movie I didn’t even finish. It was awful and just overall strange. Definitely wouldn’t bother with that one again!

Rec’d and Wreck’d – TV Shows!

Alright, I hope I’m doing this right! I will be rec’ding and wreck’ding TV shows!

REC’D:

Image result for Arrow TV Show

1.) Arrow – While I didn’t think I’d like this initially, I’ve come to love it. The show is great at making you hate the bad guys and love the good guys! The characters are fantastic and the plot is wonderful. While some of the characters are a tad annoying at times, Arrow is really a wonderful show that puts you on the edge of your seat!

Image result for Supernatural

2.) Supernatural I seriously thought that Supernatural would be utterly stupid. Man, was I wrong! It’s entertaining, exciting, and the characters are amazing! I fell in love with Dean right away and while Sam definitely has his character flaws, I like him a great deal too! The show is definitely not what I expected – I admit I thought it would be cheesy. However, the bad guys and good guys are both great and the special effects are beyond amazing! So many great characters and episodes! I highly recommend you check this show out if you haven’t already done so!

Image result for Warehouse 13

3.) Warehouse 13 – This show has been over for quite some time now, but it was fantastic! Another show that I thought I wouldn’t like and was wrong about. Each episode is interesting and it keeps you on your toes. Also, you’ll quickly fall in love with the characters!

WRECK’D

Image result for Zoo TV Show

1.) Zoo – While I really liked the show at first and loved season 1, I missed one episode of season 2 and never went back. I’m not really sure why, it just lost its appeal. Also, according to my dad who still watches it, they got rid of a main character.

Image result for Girl Meets World show

2.) Girl Meets World– I’d never seen Boy Meets World but I’d always heard about how good it was. Therefore, I decided to check out Girl Meets World. I think I watched like one episode – man, was it bad! I just found the kids utterly cheesy and the whole plot kind of lame.

Image result for Charmed

3.) Charmed – Yes, I know this show ended a while ago. I know that there were issues with Shannon Doherty, but I think once they got rid of Prue’s character, the show really went downhill. In fact, I never did finish the series. Prue’s character gave strength to the show, she was a fantastic leader, and once they got rid of her character, the show just lost its spark!

Okay, hopefully I did the challenge right! I think next time I’ll do movies!

July TV Show Photo Challenge – July 31st

Hey guys! Can you believe today is the last day of July? Anyway, today’s challenge is favorite season finale. Without a doubt, my favorite season finale is Friends’ The Last One! It’s a great send off for an amazing show and I love it! There’s nothing I would change.

July TV Show Photo Challenge – July 30th

Today’s challenge is saddest TV death. While there’s been characters that I miss more than the following, I found this the saddest death. Warning: If you haven’t watched up to the end of season 5 of Supernatural and don’t wish to know who dies, STOP READING!

The saddest TV death is… the death of Ellen and Jo in Supernatural! I felt like crying when they died. Even though they weren’t main characters, I really liked them and the scene was really touching!

Holding On To the Feeling of Progress!

This morning I succeeded at something that I haven’t really done in a long time, or at least I haven’t done it as well as I did today. It’s something that I’ve been struggling with for a while and although I did manage to kind of succeed at it a little while ago, this is the first time in a long time that I really felt like I did a good job at it. It felt wonderful to make progress and realize that I have the ability to achieve my goals.

I just recently went to my therapist’s and he was saying how I have to realize that when I make progress and succeed at something that it’s not just luck. I wasn’t lucky today when I accomplished my goal, but rather I accomplished my goal because I am capable of making progress and facing my fears. I am stronger than my anxiety.

I think that it’s so easy (especially in times of struggling), to forget just how strong we are. I know that for me, it’s almost become habit to worry about things, to feel like I can’t do certain things. However, I have the ability to succeed and I’ve proven that to myself more than just once. It just takes consistent effort and practice to continue to show myself that I can get through my anxiety and overcome my obstacles.

It’s so important that when we succeed and make progress, that we hold on to the amazing feeling that achieving our goals provides. Achieving our goals proves to us that we are capable of making progress. Please realize that when you succeed at something, that it’s not just luck, but rather it’s your hard work paying off!
