Sunshine Blogger Award!

sunshine blogger award

Amber from My Journey To Freedom From Anxiety was kind enough to nominate me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Amber is so kind, helpful, and I’ve really enjoyed talking to her. Thank you, Amber, for all of your support! I really do appreciate it. 🙂

The rules of the Sunshine Blogger Award are to nominate eleven people and to ask eleven questions. First, I will answer the questions that Amber answered and asked:

What is the most important thing to you?

  • Kindness. Especially after I started struggling with anxiety, I’ve learned just how important genuine kindness and support is.

If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be?

  • Really, I’d just like to feel safe going places I used to go again without feeling anxious. If we’re talking another country though, I’d have to say Italy.

What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

  • Being able to help others through writing and sharing my experiences. I really do like connecting with others as well.

What’s your favorite thing about yourself?

  • I’d have to say my kindness and how much I care about others.

What has been your biggest challenge in life so far?

  • Getting through anxiety.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

  • This is a tough question that I’ve thought of a few times. Honestly, I’d say the answer is 98% no and 2% yes.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

  • Hopefully coping better with my anxiety and working as a writer or something closely related.

How many languages do you speak?

  • I can only speak English but I do know some Spanish vocab.

What do you think is your best post so far? Link it.

  • Honestly, I think any that show that progress is possible. I think we all need to be reminded that it’s possible.

What’s your favorite quote?

  • Like Amber, it’s from a movie: “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way!”-Jessica Rabbit, Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

If you could recommend one fellow blogger for me to follow, who would it be and why?

  • Marysaverageadventures–she’s a great person and one of the first people I started talking to on here! Thanks Mary!

…And the nominees are…

1.) Marysaverageadventures

2.) My Journey To Freedom From Anxiety

3.) Sandycademy

4.) The Seeds 4 Life

5.) A (Mostly) Music Blog/Soundhippy

6.) The Lavender Letters

7.) Italian Hurricane

8.) theothersideofp

9.) The Persistent Platypus

10.) Megan Has OCD

11.) By Lauren Hayley

Congratulations to all the nominees!

I’ve never looked at my anxiety as a good thing and honestly, I still don’t. In fact, I hate having to deal with anxiety and I hate how it tends to hold me back from doing what I want. However, through writing about my experiences with anxiety and creating this blog, along with writing articles on other websites, I have learned that I have the ability to reach others and that I’m not alone in my struggles.

I know I’ve thanked those who read, follow, “like”, and comment on my blog before, but I really do want you all to know how grateful I am that you support me with both my writing and my journey to get through my anxiety. While we all need to learn to depend on ourselves for happiness and confidence, so many of you have helped contribute by commenting positive thoughts on my blog and showing your support.

Support and kindness are vital, whether it be when you are struggling or when you are doing fine. Everyone needs to know that they are not alone in their battles and that they have others who care for them. I know that I have family and friends who care for me and love me and thanks to those who read my blog and other pieces of writing, I also know that I can relate to others and that they can relate to me as well. Also, I have found through writing that I am not alone in what I go through. I want to thank you all for that.

I also want to take some time to let all the people who have ever contributed kind comments on my blog and have showed their kindness and support through following my blog, etc. that when I give out blogging awards, I really do want you to all know that the awards really do go to all of you. It’s hard for me to pick specific blogs and people that I give the awards to, because, really there are so many blogs and bloggers that I’m thankful for. So, when I write that I give the award to specific bloggers and also to anyone who has ever supported me and my blog, I mean it! I don’t want anyone to feel left out, especially those who really do care and take time out of their lives to show it.

So, thank you to my family, friends, and to those of you who read, comment on, follow, and “like” my blog. Remember, that I do appreciate you showing your support and that through your writing, whether it be through your kind comments on others’ blogs or through writing your own supportive and helpful blog posts, you are helping others!

A Very Kind Gesture

Curleymania has created The Getting Through Anxiety Blog Award! I think it is a very kind gesture to name an award after me. I’m going to nominate everybody that can be found under the “Blogs I Follow” widget and on the “Additional Blogs I Enjoy” page. The following quote is a description of the award and because all of the blogs I follow and enjoy fit the description, I would like to give you all this award. Every one who has and continues to support me in my fight to be free from what holds me back means so much to me. Thank you!

Those nominated I observed have excelled in writing in their blogs.  Also the Award stands for inspiration. She inspired me to do some great things in creating awards for people. The award also stands for bloggers who show kindness towards others. I find ‘GettingThroughAnxiety’ to be very kind. Lastly the award stands for people who are just simply nice people and nice to everyone in the blog community.–Curleymania

Here are the questions asked by Dan. All who visit my blog are more than welcome to answer:

2) What do you think has been your best piece of writing?

Nothing in particular, though I have some works on that I think are pretty good. I’ve also written some poetry and a few stories I’m proud of.

Again none in particular. Though I did enjoy going to my first concert (Jewel), spending time with my Grandma, and just other times as well.

I’m working on a story right now and would love to get it published. Don’t want to say too much about what it’s about though.

5) What is your favorite book?

Dead Lines by Greg Bear. Also a lot of books by James Patterson and Harlan Coben.

6) What is your least favorite book?

Ha! This is a funny question! I’d probably have to go with a lot of classics and books I’ve read when I was in school. I’m sorry, but some where just horrible!

7) Who has inspired you most in your life?

My Grandma.

The Sandycademy Award!

I’ve been nominated by Dan over at for the award he made which was inspired by Sandy’s blog, Sandycademy. I think it’s great for Dan to create an award inspired by Sandy. She is such a nice person and has been so supportive and kind to me, and I’m guessing so many other bloggers as well. So everyone knows, the award is for people who have set aside time to help others through sharing their stories in hopes to show others that they are not alone. Thank you Sandy for being so supportive and thank you Dan for the nomination! I would like to nominate the following individuals for this award:

Mary at

Sandy at

Amber at

Elle at

Dan at

Becky at

Pippa at

Lauren at

*I can’t possibly name all of the people that have taken time out of their lives to share their stories with others and help them understand that they are not alone in their struggles. The people and blogs are mentioned are just the main blogs I have nominated. I also need to nominate every other blog that I follow and enjoy. So many of you have shared your stories and support and I am more than grateful! Thank you so much.

**Also please note that I never really select a winner. The people that I nominate are the winners. I know everyone does this differently, I just wanted to clarify.

Now for the answers to the questions asked by Dan!

1) What story have you shared on your blog that you feel was the most inspirational!

This is a difficult question to answer. I think I’d have to say the most inspirational are the posts I write about determination and the fact that we all have the strength to overcome our anxiety. I think it’s something we all have to realize. I also think sharing my progress is good because it reminds myself as well as others (I hope) that success is possible if you try your hardest consistently.

2) What blog post have you found on here to be the most inspirational to you?

I feel horrible saying this, but I’m not sure. I’m new to your blog so I can’t really pick one in particular. However, I do think you making the blog was inspirational.

3) What is your favorite blog post you ever posted?

4) What is the nicest thing you did for someone?

Honestly, I think it might be sharing my experiences with others and letting them know they’re not alone. I think that’s really important. However, I just think any gesture of kindness is important.

5) What gives you hope and happiness when you feel down?

When others show their support and kindness. Also, when I see that I’m not the only one who struggles.

6) What is your favorite song?

I have a lot of them. Lyrically, my favorite song is The New Wild West by Jewel. I also love her song, Down So Long.

7) What is your favorite movie?

Back to the Future

8) What is your favorite coping strategy?

Watching TV

9) What do you like most about yourself?

My honesty and kindness

10) Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully writing. I’m not sure how I’ll be writing or where for, but hopefully I’ll be writing.

11) What is your favorite thing to do in summer?

12) Who is the most important person in your life?

My family, especially my parents. I think my dad is the most supportive.

13) Who makes you happy most in life?

My dad. He’s so understanding and kind. He’s always there for me. However, my family in general makes me happy as do my friends!

I’d like my nominees to answer the same questions if they’d like! Thank you!

I’ve Been Nominated!

I’ve been nominated for the The Rita B Blogger Award that was created by celtics345. “The Rita B Blogger Award are people I nominated that I feel through their kindness, sweetness, goodness and support to others help make people become the great people they are today.  People who make a difference in the world.” -celtics345. Here are my answers to the following questions asked and who I want to nominate for this award. Thanks again to Celtics345 for nominating me!

1) Who in your life has affected your life in the most positive way and how?

My dad. He’s always there for me even though I know it can’t always be easy. He always tries his hardest to be helpful, supportive, and patient.

2) What do you think is the best thing you think you can do to make a person feel better?

Let them know that they are not alone in their struggles and that you are there for them.

3) What is the nicest thing someone did for you?

I think when people in general are just there for me and supportive. There are so many people that are not kind when it comes to dealing with other people who struggle. It’s important that there are people who are helpful and kind.

4) What song makes you happy and reminds you of being kind to others?

I’m Sensitive by Jewel

5) Who is the nicest person you ever met and how did their friendship[/ relationship affect you in a positive way?

This is hard because I’ve met a lot of nice people that have been supportive. I guess I’d just have to say anyone who supports me on my blog, my friends, and my family. Thank you so much for being here for me. I’d especially like to nominate celtics345 and give a special thank you to theseeds4life who has inspired me to write and submit seeds to the website.

I would actually like to nominate everyone who has ever followed, ‘liked’, commented kind comments, or simply read my blog for this award. You all have helped so much through supporting me and reading what I have to say. It really means a lot to me that I can help others and that you have been so kind.
