More Literary Fun On Rest in Piece Book Blog!

Hey everyone! I thought I would just remind you that in addition to this blog, I also have created a blog dedicated to my book, Rest in Piece! The Rest in Piece Book Blog includes information about my newly published book, information about me as an author, fun book parties including questions and polls, literary advice, and much, much more!

While this blog (Getting Through Anxiety) is mostly serious in content, the Rest in Piece book blog is more along the lines of both informational and fun. As mentioned, the blog is all about my newly published book and the writing process. If you’d like to take a look, please feel free to do so. This week I’ve been celebrating the publication of my book with my second book party – which includes lots of fun polls! There is one more poll tomorrow, but you can always participate in the past polls as well!

Thanks as always for reading and thanks to everyone who has already checked out the Rest in Piece book blog!

The Questions (these are for my nominees as well. They’re really good!)

Have you had a crush on your teacher as a teenager?

Yes, definitely. Hey, I had a lot of cute teachers!

If you had the power to change one thing in your past, what would that be?

I would somehow get a hold on my anxiety before it took over so much control of my life.

Which country is your next dream vacation, and what made you want to go there?

Italy! For one thing my great grandma was from Sicily, plus I love the artwork in Italy. I took an Art History class in college and fell in love with some of the paintings.

Do you think it is okay to keep secrets even between best friends?

Yes, as long as they’re not harmful.

If you could be transformed into something else, what would be your preference, and why?

I immediately think of a dog, but sometimes they’re treated like crap. Plus, they can’t talk and everything. I don’t know…hard question!

Rest in Piece by B.W. Ginsburg

Though decades apart, two young girls are connected in a way that is both fantastical and surreal. When twelve year old Louise Erikson finds out that she holds the key to saving a nine year old who disappeared twenty years earlier, she decides to accept the challenge. Will Louise be able to rescue the girl and the others locked away with her before it’s too late?

September Character Photo Challenge – September 15th

Okay, due to thinking that today was a fictional past that I wish was real (it’s actually future today and past tomorrow!), I’m going to have to switch the days around so I have more time to think about it. However, for a fictional past that I wish was real, I’m going with the Old West from Back to the Future III. Marty and Doc may have encountered some issues with Buford ‘Mad Dog’ Tannen, but other than that, it seemed pretty fun!

“Which Do You Prefer?” Book Tag!

So I know that there are similar book tags out there, but I thought I’d create one myself! So without further ado, “Which do you prefer…?”

1.) Writing or reading books?

This is kind of hard. Then again, I love to do both to be honest. I think I have to say that I like to write stories more than read them, but only because I want to be a writer and because, I do enjoy it. However, reading books is much easier and I do enjoy that as well – which is why I wanted to become a writer in the first place!

2.) Reading hardbacks or paperbacks?

Paperbacks all the way! For some reason, hardcovers just look so much more daunting. I own both though and having hardcovers seems more important and substantial. Maybe that doesn’t make sense, but it’s true.

3.) Reading E-books or books you can actually hold?

Definitely tangible books. Reading on the computer or tablet frustrates the crap out of me!

4.) Reading books with the protagonist of a woman or man?

Actually I prefer reading books where the protagonist is a man. No idea why!

5.) Reading books written by men or women?

Men though I know how wrong it is to say that! Especially since I want to be a professional author one day and I’m a woman!

6.) Reading books or listening?

Reading. I’ve never listened to an audio book and have absolutely no desire to!

7.) Reading out loud or in your head?

In my head

8.) Getting books from the library/borrowing them or buying them?

I like owning books more, but it’s safer to get them from the library first and see if you like them. But I guess I like owning them more! Who doesn’t?!

9.) Reading thrillers or romance?

Thrillers all the way!

10.) Writing in books or not?

11.) Reading long books or short?

I like reading books that are about 400 pages long. Not sure if that’s long, short, or in the middle!

I nominate everyone, but especially…

Seizing Opportunities!

Hey guys! As many of you know, my dream career is to be a professional writer. For many years, I’ve been writing different poems, stories, and articles and submitting them to various places in hopes to get published.

Now I admit, it’s been a struggle. I know that there have been plenty of famous writers for whom it’s taken years and years to become successful, but that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be nice to see my work published at an early age. Now, don’t get me wrong, I haven’t gotten any novels published or made any money for the one poem that I had published, but I have had articles published now on different sites and blogs. The feeling is amazing! I also just recently got an amazing writing opportunity and am quite happy about it!

Most of the places that have published my articles have not offered me money, but that’s okay. Would it be nice if all these places paid for writing? Of course! However, I don’t write for the money or even the fame, but rather to get my work out there, and in many cases, hopefully help others.

Ever since I started writing this blog, opportunities have been coming my way. I have written guest posts for other blogs, I have written for The Seeds 4 Life (Thank you so much, Matt!), Battle of Mind, Youshare Project, and The Mighty. All of these bloggers and blogs have allowed me to share my experiences and I thank each and every one of them so much! I am so honored to be given the opportunity to be a part of these sites.

While I had some friends come to me and ask me if I’d be interested in these opportunities, I also had to do a great deal of the work myself. I had to search for the sites, research them, and then of course, write for them. I couldn’t just hear about the opportunities, I had to seize them!

I’m happy that I took advantage of these opportunities. I’ve met some fabulous people and discovered some great blogs! I’ve found that I do have the ability to write well and help others through my writing. Also, I’m proud to say that I feel like I’m on the right track to success!

I wanted to write this post to remind all of you that you have the ability to succeed, to accomplish your goals. Things may not come all at once or even quickly, but if you keep working at it, success will happen! Please don’t give up on your positive dreams!

**A special thank you to everyone who has worked with me and supported me!

Bloggers Recognition Award #5!

Stephanie from Making Time For Me has been kind enough to nominate me for the Bloggers Recognition Award! Thank you SO much, Stephanie! Stephanie is wonderful and her blog is filled with inspiration and love! Please check out her wonderful site!

Also, to whoever created the picture below: I LOVE it!

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Attach the award to the post.
  • Give a brief story on how your blog started.
  • Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you nominated them and provide a link to the award post you created.

In the Beginning…

I started this blog after it was recommended by my therapist to talk about my experiences with my anxiety. He thought that it would help both me and others who go through similar issues. My dad also recommended several times that I write about my mental health and that it might be helpful. I’m happy to say that he was right!

Some Advice:

I think it’s really important to write about what’s important to you. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to recognize what’s important to others, but your blog should be something that you’re proud of and should be about subjects that are close to your heart. ‘Likes’, comments, and follows are great but you shouldn’t write just so that you can become ‘popular’. You should write because you feel you have something important to say and because what you write about makes you happy or proud. Also, I think it’s important that you become involved with other blogs and bloggers. Be careful about sharing information, but at the same time don’t be afraid to share your experiences in a safe way. Just like Stephanie mentions, sharing and communicating with others in the blogosphere is an important step in being connected with those around you! Another piece of advice is to remember to thank those who show their support!
