Lost Humanity – A Poem

Hey guys, I hope you don’t mind all the poems that I’ve been posting lately! Here’s another one. Hope you enjoy!

Lost Humanity

She doesn’t want to remember
She has amnesia of the heart
She believes memories are better left to tarnish
As they begin to fall apart

She wants to fade away
Leaving the world behind
When told that she’d be missed
She just shrugs, saying she doesn’t mind

No one knows what happened
To make her act this way
All they can do is hope
That she’ll see the light one day

So now she just sits alone
Avoiding kindness at all costs
She finds herself aging quickly
Until all humanity is lost

Thoughts – A Poem

You need them
The right amount is required
But spend too much time on them
And you will quickly grow tired

They give you opinions
And they grant you the choice
To ignore injustice
Or stand up and use your voice

Thoughts can power good
Or they can create evil
They can be used to torment
Or used to help heal

In the end
The decision is yours
Will your thoughts betray you
Or open up doors?

Temporary Journey – A Poem

Temporary Journey

You close your eyes
And soon enough
You are in a world
That is not always easy to escape

As the journey continues forward
Do not be afraid
For soon you will be rescued
As you will be awake

For now enjoy the ride
The one without real danger
The one that allows you to release
Feelings of love, sadness, or anger

See the bright colors
As you walk through this world
The one that is so great
It’s hard to translate into words

Hold onto the memories
For they can disappear in a blink
While some may be scary
Some are better than you think

These dreams are a part of you
Even if the reason is unknown
They can show you the future
Or how much you’ve grown

So take them in as they come
Analyze, but do not dwell
For their meaning may be easy
Or impossible to tell

Even if your dreams are frightening
Take them as possible signs
For they can sometimes be tricky,
Complicated, by design

And if you find yourself feeling trapped
Remember that you will soon be free
For while dreams may at the time seem real
The journey is temporary

A Season Of Joy – A Collaboration

Kim, from Peace, Love and Patchouli , and I wrote this poem together about the holiday season!

A Season of Joy

By: B.G. and Kim

The sky turns to white

No trace of blue remains

When asked if it will make an appearance

The sun decides to refrain

The beginning of snow starts to fall

As the grass is covered in frost

Soon it feels as if warmth

Will be forever lost

The joyous sounds of carols

Sung round the Christmas tree

Leaves memories of laughter

That I carry along with me.

The happy children peeking

At presents down below

Wondering as they shake them

Could it be a new sled for snow?

I miss the days of long ago

When I was then oh so young

And the excitement for the morning

Waiting for it sleeplessly to come.

christmas tree

Christmas is the time I love

And I recall with laughter and tears

Of friends and family together

And the passing of the years.

Of the merry lights that twinkle

And the cocoa by the jug

Of the crystal snow that falls

Covering the gloomy ground with love.

As I sit staring at the lights on the tree

I remember the beauty of this time of year

A time when we try to put our anger and sadness aside

Replacing feelings of unhappiness with cheer

Seeing family members

Sharing kind words with friends

Reading cards of greetings

That loved ones often send

These things bring me happiness

A feeling that can never be taken away

There’s nothing I love more

Than the joy that is Christmas Day

There Was – A Poem

There was a door

That you refused to open

That door

Was your heart

There was a bond

That we couldn’t hold together

That bond

Was broken apart

There was a window

That was slammed shut

That window

Never let me in

There was a temptation

That temptation was her

That temptation

Led you to sin

But you didn’t have to allow it

To take control

But you did

And it’s taken its toll

Food for Thought – A Poem

Food for Thought
There are deep down memories
Or far away dreams
Sometimes they blur together
Or so it seems

There are truths and there are lies
Can you tell them apart?
You can hear the cries for love
If you listen with your heart

There is food for thought
Will you take the bait?
Will you stand up for your beliefs?
Will you join the debate?

There is ignorance and intelligence
There is right and there is wrong
There are those who are fighting
To find where they belong

There is love and there is hate
Which one will you choose?
Will you follow the wrong crowd?
Or let kindness be your muse?

There are decisions to make
Follow your heart and your mind
Soon the right path
Will be easy to find

My First Tag!

christmastagSo as I mentioned the other day, I’m really excited for the holidays coming up. This weekend I’m celebrating Hanukkah (I know Hanukkah started Sunday, but we’re celebrating it a little later this year) and on the 25th, I’ll be celebrating Christmas! I’m really excited to see my family and give and receive gifts.

I’ve never created my own tag before, but I’ve been having a lot of fun participating in other tags, so I thought it was time to create my own. So, welcome to ‘The It’s Almost Christmas! Christmas and Holiday Tag!’ Feel free to answer the questions. If you answer the questions, please let me know as I would love to hear your answers! Also, please feel free to copy this picture that I created using PicMonkey on your own post if you choose to do the tag on your own blog! Thanks and I hope you enjoy answering these questions!

I’ve chosen to answer the questions myself as well!

1.) What holiday do you celebrate this time of year and if you don’t, do you wish you did? If so, what holiday would you like to celebrate and why?

I celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas.

2.) How do you decorate for the holidays?

My family and I put up the tree and do some lawn decorating but not much. I feel that when it comes to the lawn, less is better (no offense to those who like to do a lot of lawn decorating).

3.) What’s your favorite Christmas/holiday song?

I saw this question asked somewhere else. I think my two favorite songs are Happy Xmas by John Lennon and Grandma got run over by a Reindeer by Elmo and Patsy. Grandma got run over by a Reindeer is a hilarious song and I always listened to it when I was younger. I also love Christmas Through Your Eyes by Gloria Estefan.

4.) What’s your favorite thing to do on Christmas or the holiday you celebrate?

Go and celebrate with family and friends on both Hanukkah and Christmas. We used to have Christmas at my house, but things have changed over the years. I still have a great time though visiting my family and spending time with them at my relatives’ houses.

5.) What’s your favorite holiday?

6.) Any special gifts you want this year?

I already got one of my gifts early which was a suede jacket. Other than that, I really don’t have anything specific in mind. I usually like whatever I get!

7.) Are you the type that plans out ahead of time what you’ll wear for the holidays? If so, do you already know what you plan on wearing?

Yes and yes!

8.) If you could have anything in the world for the holidays and didn’t have to worry about how much it was, what would you want?

I think I’d ask for a Chocolate diamond ring from Le Vian Jewelers. Those things are GORGEOUS! Of course, even if it didn’t matter, they’re still a lot of money and I would feel guilty. There’s also something else I’ve wanted for a while but it’s hard to come by.

9.) If you could have something for the holidays that money couldn’t buy, what would it be?

To either not have to struggle with anxiety or to manage it much better. Seriously, I’d give all the material possessions that money could buy for that.

10.) Is there anything you miss doing on the holidays?

I miss when my Grandma was alive. I also really liked having Christmas at our house. It’s not that I don’t like having it where we do now, it was just nice to have everyone over. I think I really miss those two things a lot. I’m still more than grateful though that we still celebrate the holidays and that I still have my family. I know a lot of people don’t.

11.) What are you most grateful for during the holidays?

Family and friends! A loving home and the fact that my family and friends have these things as well. Also, the fact that my family is one that for the most part, gets along. I honestly just get really excited seeing everyone and having a great time!

Well, those are my questions and answers! I hope you guys enjoyed reading them and feel free to answer them as well!

Dear anxiety – by B.G.

Hi everyone! I wrote this letter to my anxiety. You can find this and other great poems and letters on the blog, Letters to the Mind! Feel free to contribute your own piece of writing to Jade’s fantastic blog!

Letters to the Mind

Dear anxiety,

I shouldn’t even be spending my time, energy, and talent on you right now but it’s time we get something straight. You’ve been trying your hardest for a while now to drag me down, but as you can see, I’m not giving up. I’m kind, talented, loving, and worth a lot more than to be controlled by you. I want to be a writer, I want to help people, and I don’t want to be afraid to live my life. You’ve stopped me from enjoying doing certain things and even stopped me from doing things altogether, but NO MORE! I know that I won’t get cured overnight, but that’s not going to stop me from proving to myself that I’m stronger than you. Because you know what? I AM!

I’ve accomplished so much in my life, even with you trying to stop me. In high school, when you…

We Are Strong – A Poem

We Are Strong

It’s been a struggle
A mountain so very steep
Sometimes it seems
I’ll never make it to the top

But then I look behind me
At how far I’ve come
I look ahead
Promising that I’ll never stop

Never stop climbing
Never stop trying
Never stop challenging
Never stop succeeding

I listen to the words
Of those who stand close by
Supporting and listening
Reminding me that I’m not alone

They remind me that they too
Have fought in the battle
That they too have struggled
To remove the sword from the stone

But we are strong
And we are brave
And to our fears
We won’t be slaves

Never stop climbing
Never stop trying
Never stop challenging
Never stop succeeding

Sometimes – A Poem

Sometimes I find myself surprised
That I still have tears after all that I’ve cried
That I can still produce water from my eyes
No matter how much time goes by

Sometimes all I can do is shake my head
At the feelings that have slowly turned to dread
Trying to ignore all the mean things said
As I try not to let my vision go red

I don’t want to become an angry person
Wrapped with sadness and guilt
Don’t want to destroy this confidence
That I’ve worked so hard to build

The pain can be so strong
Feeling like I do everything wrong
Feeling like nothing is right
Crying into the night

I know that I’m a good person
That I’m considerate and kind
Perhaps if they don’t see this
They are the ones who are blind
