  1. I have two favorites actually, but you didn’t have the option for video game blogs πŸ™‚ Since my favorite type of games are RPGs so they tell a story, I look at them through the same critical eye as books. I like other types of games, too, but RPGs have always been my favorite ever since I learned of their existence. I definitely know that this is due to my love of reading, writing, and general storytelling.

    1. I looooove RPGs. I only play mobile games now (I had a very dark time with a Neverwinter Nights addiction… we don’t talk about it… lol), but even they’re RPGs! LOL

      1. We used to call Neverwinter Nights (or NwN) “crack,” it was so addictive. I’m sticking to The Simpsons: Tapped Out for now!

I also loved Final Fantasy VII. I haven’t played an actually PlayStation game in a long time, though.

Which is your favorite game? πŸ™‚

      2. I did have an inkling that was your favorite game. I did look at your blog. πŸ˜‰

This conversation made me do a search for Final Fantasy VII for PS3. I was soooo upset that I couldn’t play it anymore when I upgraded to PS3 – it was the only game with which I was concerned. I’m half tempted to buy PS4 just so I can play FFVII. πŸ˜₯

(By the way, this comment led me to look & see if I could find FFVII for PS3. I could not. πŸ˜₯ )

      3. Aw you can’t download it on PS3? It’s such a crap shoot on what games they have for what. I was looking to download FFXIII for PS3, but they only have the sequels available. I own the game, but the laser on our PS3 doesn’t work/needs to be replaced. I kind of want to just buy a new one for myself. I have the original FFVII disk, but I’m cautious about playing it because I don’t want to wear the disk out. I’d rather download/play a digital copy.

      4. I’ll admit… I haven’t even tried to look for it for download. Before my last comment to you, I did some poking around on Amazon, eBay, & even the Playstation website, but I couldn’t find anything. I was only looking for tangible copies.

I’ll also admit, I’ve never downloaded any games. I guess I never grew out of “get a disc, play game, repeat.”

I’ll have to check it out though. I really miss FFVII. I never did beat it!

      5. It took me some getting used to, as well! It’s odd not to have a tangible copy, but I’m getting used to it especially for some of the deals you can get through PSN! They have really good flash sales. I think I bought Journey for around $5 during that time. They’ll do really deep discounts on select games, and they sale changes every two weeks πŸ™‚

      6. Hmm… It sounds interesting, to be sure! Now I’m torn between “But you already have so many games,” “I REALLY wanna see what’s out there,” & “But what happens when you change systems/if there’s a download or system issue??”

I can definitely look into getting a PSN account & what they offer, though.

Thanks so much for the tip! πŸ™‚

      7. I will not be a good deterrent if you want to get another game, because I look at them like books: you can never have too many :p

PSN is pretty solid, and they’re generally quick to fix any issues that might come up. It’s a little pricey (I think it’s $60 a year now), but their flash sales are amazing, and they have them all the time. Essentially, they’re always having a sale; it just switches every two weeks with what’s been reduced.

      8. Oh wow. I didn’t even realize it cost money. Or maybe I did, back when I looked into it many, many moons ago, & that’s why I didn’t sign up.

Unfortunately, I don’t play games enough to rationalize that cost. Even though it’s only about $5 a month, I barely play games once a year! (Yeah, I should really play the physical games I have more often… or at all; I have many I never played!! LOL)

Oh well… maybe one day I’ll play FFVII again. *wistful*

      9. Yeah it’s a bit pricey. I think my husband pays it, but we both use it, so it’s not as bad. If you don’t play games often enough it’s not worth the price though and/or you could just “borrow” a friend’s PSN ID and get the discount that way (I think you can do that at least).

Playing FFVII again is never a bad plan! I’m playing/replaying them all in order and reviewing them and I’m on V. I’ve also been sucked into the world of Brave Exvius, the freemium (as my one friend calls it) game you can play on iOS/Android. I’m playing it on my Kindle, which oddly is considered an Android (who knew?) It’s definitely Final Fantasy to the core with the story, pretty boy main characters, epic music, and random battles among other things. There are SO many side quests, and I often forget to do things/keep track, but it’s kind of addictive lol.

      10. That’s great advice. I know quite a few people who are serious gamers, so I’m sure I could “borrow” a code. πŸ˜‰

Oh dear… I’m addicted to “freemium” games. I’ll have to look into Brave Exvius now! πŸ˜€

      11. I looked at the reviews & I found a lot of people said it’s kind of a money-grab, & hard for new players to compete/level up. Do you have any thoughts about it?

      12. You know I saw it has a very low rating on Grouvee (this game backlog and review site), and I really didn’t get it. I mean, you can spend money if you choose to, but you don’t have to. I think that’s the case with any freemium game. I only started maybe a month ago.

I don’t know what the issue is with leveling up though? Like you can “purchase” with the in game currency units you can use to level up on a daily basis. I have quite a few characters at max level, so I’m not sure what the issue is there. It is hard to summon rare characters, but they’re rare so that’s not surprising.

I’d honestly give it a try if you’re interesting. I use the Wiki and google to figure things out, but I haven’t had these issues that others have. I think the music is phenomenal. There are a lot of side quests, and the story is very Final Fantasy-esque.

      13. That’s a really good point. I think a lot of people take issue with “freemium” games – some are worse than others, though. Like, “Family Guy: Quest for Stuff” is almost impossible to complete events in the time given without spending money (conversely, “The Simpsons: Tapped Out” allows people who don’t put money into the game to finish events in the time given). So, I see their point.

I looked at the reviews on the Google & Amazon stores. It sounds like you did a lot more research, though; thank you for passing it along! I’ve definitely got more to think about now.

Have you put any money into the game?

      14. They give you at least two weeks for most events! Granted, there are a few that I’m just not going to be leveled enough to do them even in that time limit, but they offer so many it’s not that big of a deal.

I have…around $30. I really want this one character so I bought a bunch of lapis so I could do numerous draws. Then I was really low on it and I’d run out of space for my materials, and you have to expend lapis (which is the game’s currency) in order to increase it. I think it’s possible to do everything in the game without spending money, but if you want to have a greater chance of getting a favorite character you might have to. You don’t need to though in order to enjoy it πŸ™‚

      15. Well, that’s really good advice! I’ll definitely think about it. I’m starting to think I’m way too involved with these games – you can probably tell by how frequently (not) I post! πŸ˜€

      16. Haha no worries! I try desperately to keep up with my comments and blog subs. Tis difficult! The comments I try to check once a day so I don’t miss any (for some reason, WP will only show a certain number before it’s at the end), and the blog subs, well, I do my best πŸ™‚

      17. I know what you mean! I’ve got WP sending me a daily subscription of my favorite blogs, but I rarely have a chance to check my reader. WP isn’t great at informing us of everything, unfortunately. :-/

Now that things have calmed down at my house, for the most part, I’m hoping to get back into actually writing. I’ve got way more ideas than I’ve got time, or skill, about which to write. 😦

      18. Trust me, I’m right there with you! I’ve got notes in a Word document, in a binder, on random scraps of paper… all separated by their intended purposes & whatnot. LOL πŸ™‚
