November Challenge – November 8th

What’s the story behind how you got your name?

I’m pretty excited about today’s challenge! I’m not going to be too specific though since I don’t want to give out my real first name. However, the story goes like this:

I was almost named after a month of the year because I was supposed to be born in that month. However, I was born earlier that I was supposed to be, so that name didn’t pan out! Then my dad came up with a name for me but my mom didn’t like it, so she switched around the letters a little and came up with my name! To be honest, I couldn’t be happier with it!

What about you guys? What’s the story behind your name?

  1. I don’t think it’s a true story, but it’s the story my dad always says. My dad says he was drunk when I was born (probably true – they were having a dinner party when my mum went into labour, and he was drinking) and he says he said, ‘Call her Louise’, but because he was drunk it came out as ‘Carla-Louise’ (my real name is Carla-Louise, hence “Carla Louise”).
I don’t think it’s true, but I hate “Carla-Louise”. I like my name Carla, which is why I go by it, but I hate the hyphen.

    1. Ha! Interesting story. If it’s not true, then your dad is one heck of a story teller! I like my middle name too, which was my great grandma’s! Actually I think both of my great-grandma’s name might have been the same. Not positive though! I just emailed you by the way so you know.

  2. How interesting! I’m sure you have a beautiful name.

There’s some discrepancy about how I got my name. I remember my Dad telling me that part of the reason he & my Mom picked “Ariel” is after the character from Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.”

Then, the other day he told me that’s not the case. He said they chose it because it’s an old Hebrew name that means “Lion/Lioness of G-d” & my Mom liked it. I knew that was part of the reason, but I distinctly remember him telling me it wasn’t the whole reason. LOL
