World Mental Health Day!


The purpose of today is to raise awareness about mental health and learn how to have an open and welcoming dialogue about it. This is an incredibly important topic that many people shy away from because they don’t know how to address it properly, or they let false assumptions scare them out of talking about it.

The stigma that surrounds mental health is incredibly detrimental to those who deal with it, and unfortunately people fail to realize that everyone has to take care of their mental health just like they have to take care of their physical health. I started a piece a while ago about my experiences as an ally and addressing mental health, so hopefully I can finish it today. Until then, I’ll leave you with this:

“Never give up on someone with a mental illness. We ‘I’ is replaced by ‘we’, ‘illness’ becomes ‘wellness’ “
