Confessions of a Writer Tag!

Confessions of a writer

So as you guys have probably noticed, I’ve been working on a lot of things on my blog other than just writing about anxiety. I actually think this is a good thing. In addition to writing about getting through anxiety, I’m also doing challenges and writing about things that are positive and can help get my mind, and my readers’ minds, off of our fears. So, I hope you don’t mind me doing this great tag that I discovered over at Kendra’s blog, Reads and Treats!

When did you first start writing? Was being a writer something you always wanted to do?

Well, I don’t know when I started putting pen (or pencil) to paper, but I do remember writing in first grade. I don’t know if I always thought of being a writer as a career choice, but I know that it didn’t take me long to realize that that’s what I wanted to do.

What genre do you write?

I like writing general fiction and some horror/ghost stories!

Can you tell us a little about your current work in progress? When did you start working on this project?

I’m currently working on two stories. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but one is a science fiction thriller and the other one is a mystery/ghost story.

What was the first piece that you can remember writing? What was it about?

Oh gosh, I don’t know. I remember writing a really cheesy song/poem about this guy I had a crush on!

What’s the best part about writing?

I love being able to create a story and share it with others! I love getting ideas and being able to put them to paper. I’ve always loved reading, so being able to write feels amazing. Also, since I started blogging, I’ve learned that I can actually help people through my writing, which feels really good!

What is the worst part about writing?

The worst part for me is coming up with ideas and sticking with it. Sometimes I start writing and just stop knowing where to go with them. I hate that! It’s just like I how I hate when I stop reading a book.

What’s the name of your favorite character and why? (This can be from another author or your own work. Book crushes are perfectly acceptable here as well.)

Hmmm, this is hard. I just read the book If You Can See Me Now by Peter Straub and really liked the character Miles. I don’t know though, there are so many great characters!

How much time a day/week do you get to write? When is the best time for you to write (morning or night)?

I don’t write nearly as much as I should, but maybe at least five to ten minutes a day? I don’t know. The best time for me to write is probably morning or afternoon. I’m too tired at night.

Did you go to college for writing? Or if you haven’t been to college yet, do you plan to?

Kind of. I majored in English and minored in Writing. I guess you could say that I did go to college for Writing though since that’s what I want to do and that’s what I liked studying the best. So I guess the answer is yes. I do wish I could have actually majored in Writing though instead of minoring in it.

What bothers you more: spelling errors, punctuation errors or grammar errors?

Spelling errors! Especially in a book when you wonder, “How did the editor not catch this?”

What is the best writing advice that anyone has given you?

Read more and write a lot. The more you read and write, the better you get!

What advice would you give another writer?

Read and write a lot. Read good books with good writing.

What are your favorite writing sites or blogs that you turn to for help, tips or encouragements?

The blog World of Horror is pretty good!

Besides writing, what else do you enjoy doing? What are your hobbies?

Blogging, reading, watching TV

What is the best book you have read this year?

If You Could See Me Now by Peter Straub. You can check out my review here!

What is the best movie you have seen this year?

That’s a tough one. I love so many movies!

What is your favorite book or series of all time?

I always say Dead Lines but I haven’t read it in a while. I’m not 100% sure.

Who is your favorite author?

Harlan Coben

What are your plans for the rest of the year in terms of your writing?

Keep writing my stories and blogging!

Where else can we find you online?

The Seeds 4 Life

Battle of Mind

      1. It’s true. There were a lot of times when I couldn’t go to class or when I had to drop one and take another one instead. Luckily a lot of my professors were accommodating. Also, my dad was a huge help.

      1. Ha! I don’t know! Can you see it? One of my blogger friends couldn’t. You can definitely see it on my side though. I even had a few people confirm it, lol. I took off the link and redid it and it was still there!

      2. Yea I see it, I thought you put it in! I thought maybe it was an inside joke because you posted that on bday. That’s really weird and funny! Not sure what would cause that, it’s just a link to your author profile right?
