Okay, so I know I did not invent this idea. I’m not quite sure where I originally heard about it or if it’s exactly the same thing as what I’m doing, but I know other people have done similar things. Anyway, last night I had a difficult night with my anxiety and on top of that, I must have somehow deleted the list of progress I’ve made that I keep in my phone to remind me that I can get through my anxiety. While I don’t need to see it written down to remind me, it was a nice reminder when I was struggling. I was upset that it was gone but I decided to write it down in a notebook, which in hindsight I realize I should have done that in the first place.
After writing down all the progress that I could remember I’ve made (though I didn’t write down every single thing), I realized that the notebook could also serve as a positivity journal in general. I decided that along with steps I was making to prove to myself I can get through my anxiety, I could also add inspirational and motivational quotes, etc. The notebook is small enough that I can fit it in my purse and have it wherever I go as a reminder of the progress I have made. Here are some of the quotes I have written down that I have found on blogs, etc. that I think may be helpful to anyone struggling with anxiety or another issue:
-“Repeat after me: I am stronger than this challenge. And this challenge is making me even stronger.”
(See my “About” page for information on the source of this quote. After going on the blog where I first saw the quote, the picture shows what website the picture/quote was from.)
-“The best way out is through”-Robert Frost
-“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going”-Beverly Sills
-“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” – William Shakespeare
-“No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from.”-Jewel, Life Uncommon
